Bedale swimming pool and sauna temporary closure: Frequently asked questions
Important notice: Bedale Leisure Centre will be undergoing essential maintenance to replace the swimming pool air handling unit. As a result, the swimming pool and sauna will be closed from Monday 17 March to Friday 11 April 2025.
We will provide an update with the confirmed reopening date as the completion of the work approaches.
I am a Freedom member. How will the closure affect my membership?
As a Freedom member, you can continue to use your membership at Bedale Leisure Centre and at our other centres in Northallerton, Stokesley, or Thirsk and Sowerby. A premium fee usually applies to Northallerton and Thirsk, but this fee will be waived for the duration of the closure of the swimming pool at Bedale. If you would like this added to your membership, please contact us at MembershipChange.ham@northyorks.gov.uk.
I am a direct debit swim member. How will the closure affect my membership?
As a direct debit swim member, you can continue to use your membership at any of our other swimming pools in Northallerton, Stokesley, or Thirsk and Sowerby. If you choose not to use one of our alternative swimming pools during the closure, please let us know at MembershipChange.ham@northyorks.gov.uk once Bedale swimming pool has reopened and we will adjust the following month's direct debit payment accordingly.
I have an annual swim membership or a Zest Discount Card. Will this be extended to account for the closure period?
You can continue to use your annual membership or Zest Discount Card at our other leisure centres in Northallerton, Stokesley, or Thirsk and Sowerby. If you choose not to use one of our alternative swimming pools during the closure, please let us know at MembershipChange.ham@northyorks.gov.uk.
My child attends swimming lessons. How will the closure affect us?
Swimming lessons will not take place during the pool closure. Direct debit payments will be adjusted on the next payment request to ensure you are not charged for any missed lessons due to the closure. No action is required from you. Learn to swim members can still access free unlimited swimming at any of our centres at Northallerton, Stokesley or Thirsk and Sowerby.
I am an adult attending swimming lessons. How does the closure affect us?
Swimming lessons will not take place during the pool closure. No action is required from you.
Will the closure affect the sauna?
Yes, the sauna will be closed for the duration of the works.
What if I attend with a school or a club?
Schools and clubs have been notified about the pool closure and will contact you separately if necessary.
How will I be kept up to date with progress?
Updates will be posted on the Zest website, as well as via our Zest app and Facebook page. You can download the Zest app from the App Store or Google Play by searching for Zest@hambleton.
